Governor Barnes with Academy students at Redan High School.
Georgia Governor Roy Barnes attended a celebration of the Cisco Networking Academy Program on October 14, 2002 at Redan High School in Atlanta. Approximately 130 Regional and Local Academies in Georgia shared their successes at the event. Governor Barnes emphasized the importance of technology and applauded the Academy program for its contribution to the field of education. "We know that the Networking Academy helps us to become assimilated in to the creation of the jobs of tomorrow. It prepares students, not only here at Redan High School, but all across Georgia to compete for information driven economy jobs of the future. I am here to recognize and thank Cisco for their involvement and also to thank the school systems that participated. These young folks are on the cutting edge of knowledge and they will have jobs."
