In an effort to continually improve and enhance our reporting, the WWE team has been working toward the development of stable and useful statistics for the Cisco Networking Academy Program. To that end, new definitions have been established.
Participating Students:
The total number of students participating in the Cisco Networking Academy® Program. This number represents all students who are in one or more of the following groups:
- Students that have completed a class within the last five months
- Students currently taking a class that is in session
- Students enrolled in a class that starts in the future
Each Student is only counted once, regardless of the number of conditions they meet.
Recent Updates: Participating Students had been previously
reported as Active Students. The Active Student number has been updated
to exclude generic student accounts that have not yet been initialized
by a new student.
Participating Instructors:
Instructors are 'Participating' in the Cisco Networking Academy Program if they meet any one of the following conditions:
- Have taught or taken classes within the last six months
- Currently teaching or taking a class that is in session
- Scheduled to teach or take a class anytime in the future
Each Instructor is only counted once, regardless of the number of conditions they meet.
Recent Updates: Participating Instructors had previously been reported as Active Instructors, however the definition is basically the same.
Participating Academies Total:
The total number of Academies participating in the Cisco Networking Academy Program. An Academy is considered participating if it meets any ONE of the following criteria:
- Academy is offering at least one Course in a Cisco Networking Academy Program Curriculum.
- Academy has one or more classes currently in session
- Academy has signed up to begin offering one or more of the Cisco Networking Academy Program Curriculum within the last 18 months
Each Academy (Institution) is only counted once, regardless of the number of conditions (listed above) they meet.
Each Academy can have one or more designations, which indicates the type of classes they teach. Regional and CATC Academies teach instructor classes while Local Academies teach student classes. Each Academy is only counted one time in this count, even if the Academy has more than one type designation. Therefore, this total number cannot be obtained by adding up the number of CATC, Regional & Local Academies.
Recent Updates: Participating Academies had previously been reported as Total Academies. In the past this number included Academies who had signed up to become an Academy but who had never begun offering classes. As this may falsely inflate the reported number of Academies participating in the program, the definition was adjusted. Academies are now automatically counted for up to 18 months after they sign up. After 18 months, an Academy must meet one of the other criteria to be considered Participating. The drop in these numbers simply reflects Academies who are no longer participating in the Cisco Networking Academy Program.
Participating Local Academies:
This is the total number of Academies that teach Student Classes:
- Each Academy can have one or more designations, which indicates the type of classes they teach. Regional and CATC Academies teach instructor classes while Local Academies teach student classes.
- Each Local Academy is counted once in this number, however if an Academy has other type designations, it will be included in those counts as well. Therefore, this number cannot be added to the Regional and CATC counts to obtain the Total Academy count.
Recent Updates: Participating Local Academies had previously been reported as Local Academies. In the past this number included Academies who had signed up to become an Academy but never begun offering classes.
Participating Regional Academies:
This is the total number of Regional Academies offering the Cisco Networking Academy Program. Regional Academies teach instructor classes.
- Each Academy can have one or more designations, which indicates the type of classes they teach. Regional and CATC Academies teach instructor classes while Local Academies teach student classes.
- Each Regional Academy is counted once in this number, however if an Academy has other designations, it will be included in those counts as well. Therefore, this number cannot be added to the Local and CATC counts to obtain the Total Academy count.
Recent Updates: Participating Regional Academies had previously been reported as Regional Academies.
Participating Cisco Academy Training Centers (CATC's):
This is the total number of Cisco Academy Training Centers (CATC's) offering the Cisco Networking Academy Program. CATC's train instructors to teach at both Regional and Local Academies.
- Each Academy can have one or more designations, which indicates the type of classes they teach. Regional and CATC Academies teach instructor classes while Local Academies teach student classes.
- Each CATC is counted once in this number, however if an Academy has other designations, it will be included in those counts as well. Therefore, this number cannot be added to the Regional and Local counts to obtain the Total Academy count.
Recent Updates: Participating CATC's had previously been reported as CATC's.
U.S (plus the District of Columbia):
The number of US States with at least one institution currently participating in the Cisco Networking Academy Program.
Recent Updates: This definition did not change with the recent reporting updates. No changes in this number have occurred.
Countries/Territories/Entities:
The number of Countries, Territories, or Entities with at least one institution currently participating in the Cisco Networking Academy Program.
Recent Updates: This definition did not change with the recent reporting updates. However, the definition of Academy Participation did change to exclude Academies not truly participating in the Cisco Networking Academy Program. This change may affect the number of Countries, Territories, & Entities which are reported here. Consider the following situation: A Country has only a single Academy which has been signed up for over 18 months and the Academy has not scheduled a course start date or started offering classes. In this situation, the Country would no longer be counted because the only Academy in the Country is no longer considered 'Participating'.
