| Cisco Learning Institute (CLI)™
Virtuoso Delivery is a unique authoring and content delivery system
for e-learning that stores and delivers curriculum content and assessment
questions and results for each student according to his or her mastery
of the subject matter.
CLI Virtuoso Delivery enables a wide array of assessment types and
forms, including: multiple choice single response, multiple
choice multiple response, true and false, fill in the blank,
interactive graphical items, survey rating items, survey short
answer, simulation display, and testlets. This assortment
of assessment types allows course developers to test student
understanding at many different cognitive levels. Students
can demonstrate not only their mastery of facts, but also
their ability to apply what they have learned to scenarios
and simulations.
In addition to the wide array of assessment types offered,
Virtuoso also provides several features that add flexibility
to the way assessment items can be developed. These include:
field testing of test items, mixed format test items, item
randomization, item formatting options, and item front matter
options. There is also a "Personalized Feedback"
feature that allows students who have taken a pretest within
CLI Virtuoso Delivery to choose from a list of the topics in which
they had trouble demonstrating proficiency. Personalized Feedback
provides students and teachers with broader learning resources
that help increase proficiency in key areas.
Unlike many "e-reading" courses that are simply
online textbooks, CLI Virtuoso Delivery is a dynamic e-learning environment
that can create courses quickly and interactively according
to the needs of individual learners. This is accomplished
through the creation of metatagged course content, organized
into reusable learning objects that are assembled quickly
into customized content. Coming to CLI Virtuoso Delivery is another
feature called "More Info" with buttons that will
allow for additional drill down in specific student-driven
content areas and will include media-rich presentations. The
content stored within CLI Virtuoso Delivery is managed by the Cisco
Networking Academy Management System (CNAMS), a program that
works closely with CLI Virtuoso Delivery to authenticate and grant
permission to students requesting access to content.
CLI Virtuoso Delivery runs on SUN Web and applications servers
and Oracle database servers. For more information about CLI Virtuoso
