The Gender Initiative has been implemented through the Cisco Networking Academy Program around the globe, including several targeted gender projects. The Internet Training Center (ITC) Initiative focuses on the establishment of gender-focused Networking Academies in the world’s Least Developed Countries, with an institution committing to a minimum of 30% female enrollment. As part of the Gender Equal Access in Technology project, Cisco and CLI are working with targeted secondary schools in the U.S. to achieve gender equity in the Academy program.

Women comprise 50% of the U.S. workforce, but hold only 20% of the jobs in technology. Cisco Systems and the Cisco Learning Institute are working with schools to build the pipeline.
