What to look for…
    An interest in technology
A desire to learn new things
    A love of teaching
    A commitment to the program
The energy and flexibility to work with new tools and methods

"I look for someone who is patient; someone with compassion for other people's experiences and situations; someone who is flexible; someone willing to go a bit above and beyond for the client."
Amy Estes
Emergency Housing Consortium
San Jose, CA

Where to look…
High school and colleges draw from existing faculty, publicizing the idea to teachers and inviting them to attend information sessions.

"You have to find dedicated teachers who know what it's all about, and when they get into it, they're willing to do the work. We've got really excited and interested teachers."
Dennis Quatrine,
Henry Ford Community College Regional Academy
Detroit, MI

Staff members from within an organization have experience working with the population served and make excellent instructors with technical training.

Some Networking Academies recruit through business partnerships or professional associations. They find people with technical experience who are looking to give back to their community such as retirees or young professionals who have chosen to raise a family and need more flexible work opportunities.

Networking Academies in the same area can schedule classes to share instructors. Some organizations are growing their own.

"We are looking at recruiting some of our Cisco Networking Academy Graduates to come back and teach for us."
Linda Hanks
Focus: HOPE
Detroit, MI

How to interest them…
Chris Widmer, Monmouth County Vocational School District, holds open houses and information sessions to recruit new teachers. He also set up a Web site (http://www.hths.mcvsd.org/HTHS_CCNA/) to describe the program and explain its benefits.

Many Networking Academies use the Cisco Networking Academy Program video in their recruiting efforts. This short video explains the benefits of the Networking Academy program for students and instructors.
