 Learning Preferences

The Academy program delivers content that is capable of accommodating individual learning style preferences and requirements. The courses deliver content in auditory, visual, tactile, numeric, and text formats to best accommodate individual learning styles.

Auditory
Students who prefer an auditory-based learning environment have the opportunity to listen to instructor lectures, class discussions, audio accompaniment to written content, audio and video files, and instructor guidance through hands-on lab activities.

Visual
The Academy program provides web-based content, graphics, animations, and videos that are well suited for students who prefer a visual based learning environment. A typical Web page may display a combination of text, audio or video tracks, graphics, and numeric representations. The content contains Web links to additional information and reference materials, an index, a glossary, and a list of labs and media. The text itself contains all of the information necessary to successfully complete the corresponding quizzes and exams.

Kinesthetic
The Academy program curriculum content contains hands-on labs where the students perform lab tasks on actual hardware and software. The curriculum also contains interactive labs and activities for practice and practical experience. Some of the activity types included point and click, drag and drop, fill-in the blank, and PhotoZoom.

Tactile
The Academy program provides instructor-led training to promote student and instructor interactions, which enhances the learning environment for tactile learners. The use of bulletin boards, discussion groups, and chat rooms provides additional communications between students and instructors to further enhance the classroom environment. Academy Connection participants also have access to a community of users to share best practices, solve problems, access discounts, and request assistance.
