This course is an intensive introduction to multi-user,
multi-tasking network operating systems. Characteristics of the
Linux, Windows 2000, NT, and XP network operating systems will be
discussed. Students will explore a variety of topics including
installation procedures, security issues, back up procedures and
remote access.
Upon successful completion of this course,
students will receive an official Cisco Networking Academy
Certificate of Completion. IT Essentials I, together with IT
Essentials II will prepare students for the CompTIA Server+
certification exam. Additionally, IT Essentials II along with the
Fundamentals of UNIX course will help prepare students for the
CompTIA Linux+ exam.
In combination with IT Essentials I, IT
Essentials II will help prime students for careers in network
administrator, network technician, systems analyst, technical
support engineer, applications integrator, business continuity
analyst, tester and systems administrator. It will also help ready
students to enter into a computer science or a management
information systems degree program.
