 Blended E-Learning Features

The Academy program uses the Internet, intranet, and extranet for delivery. An instructor provides a syllabus and establishes a preliminary schedule for completing the course content. The students work individually to complete the course content. Students may communicate with the instructor using e-mail, bulletin/discussion boards, chat rooms, and instant messaging. Links provide for learning resources outside of the course, such as references, e-mail, bulletin boards, and discussion groups. Blended E-learning provides the advantages of computer-based training while retaining advantages of instructor-led training.

The Academy program prefers the blended learning approach. Different people learn in different ways. Instead of relying on one-size-fits-all applications, the Academy program mixes and matches e-learning tools depending on specific training goals in a blended approach. This includes a combination of instructor-led and Web-based training. Blended learning utilizes all of the optimum qualities from each type of learning. Students have the opportunity to work online at their own pace and skill level while still having access to an instructor and other live resources.

Instructor-Led Training
The Networking Academies provide instructor-led training for the curriculum.
Classes are held at Academy locations at specific times.
Students work to complete the course content on the computer while the instructor leads the class.
The instructor provides guidance and assistance to the students as they move through the content. Students have the opportunity to learn from other students’ comments and experiences.
The instructor leads the hands-on lab activities and is available to share knowledge and expertise with the students.

Remote Access
Remote access specially designed to provide labs and environments that students access over the web.
NetLabs is a primary example of a remote experience environment and labs.

Distance Learning
The Academy program extends the learning and delivery of instructional resources-sharing when students and instructors are separated by physical distance.
Education or training courses are delivered to remote locations via synchronous or asynchronous means of instruction,
At this time only Academies in a few authorized pilot programs are teaching in a 100% remote environment.
