This Java course provides a conceptual understanding of Object
Oriented programming. This course also teaches students how to use
the Java language's object oriented technologies to solve business
problems. Topics also include the language fundamentals, the Java
language API (application programming interface). Students will
learn how to create classes, objects and applications using the
language.
The Fundamentals of Java Programming course content, hands-on lab
activities and threaded case study comprehensively cover the AP
objectives for Computer Science. The Advanced Placement (AP) Computer Science curriculum, sponsored by the College Board (http://www.collegeboard.com/), is an accelerated program consisting
of two tracks, A and AB. The goal of this program is to expose
students to introductory college-level computer science programming
courses. The A track is a subset of AB and the two together are
equivalent to a first year computer science programming course.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive an
official Cisco Networking Academy Certificate of Completion. This
course will prepare students for both the Computer Science Advanced
Placement A and AB exams as well as the Sun Certified Programmer for
Java 2 certification exam.
The Java course will be a stepping stone to help a student ready
themselves for a challenging career such as a program analyst,
systems analyst, programmer, website developer, and data modeling
specialist. This course will also assist students in preparing to enter a computer science or a management information systems degree program.
This course is scheduled to be retired on July 1, 2006. The curriculum and assessments will be available until that time. Please see the Sun Sponsorship Transition FAQs for further details on this curriculum retirement.
